For health and human services programs, call the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) at 1-855-697-4347, hours: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.  For health coverage, call HealthSource RI at 1-855-840-4774, hours: 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Mail

Apply for programs by mail. See applications. Print an application, complete it and send it to us by mail.

In Person

For health and human service programs: Due to COVID-19, the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) has closed all customer facing lobby operations. It is important to emphasize that DHS customers still have access to benefits through the following channels:

  • Customer Portal: log in to your portal to access your benefits; instructions can be found on the Helpful Technology Resources page
  • DHS Phone: 1-855-MY-RIDHS (1-855-697-4347)
  • Leave materials in the drop boxes at our offices and DHS staff will follow up by telephone

For health coverage: Contact HealthSource RI through live web chat or by telephone at 1-855-840-4774 Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, HealthSource RI encourages you to use our live web chat or call our customer contact center. If you would prefer in-person assistance, our Walk-In Center is open by appointment only.
